Honduras
Honduras is one of the poorest countries in the Central America. Nearly 300,000 children are homeless in a population of 7.5 million people. God has called General Baptist to reach out in the name of Jesus Christ to these children and rescue them.
Faith Home consists of a 50 acre campus near San Pedro Sula, Honduras. On this campus, 10 homes have been constructed to provide housing for children. A married, Christian, Honduran couple has been hired to live in each home and provide the day to day care. These house parents and their own children provide the foundation for the family unit in each home. A five room school has been built and staffed with four full time teachers to educate the children. This year we have added a computer lab and hired a part time teacher to oversee the lab.
Faith Home works with the children’s court in San Pedro Sula. This court works with children who are in situations of neglect, abuse and abandonment. After investigating the situation of the children, the court reaches a decision that there is no one in the child’s family available or capable of providing and caring for the child. The court then seeks to place the child in a child care facility. This is how the children come to Faith Home.
We feel that God is going to use the ministry of Faith Home to prepare these children to go out into this country and spread the life giving message of hope in the Lord Jesus Christ. Please pray for this ministry. Pray for the children and staff. Pray that the Lord would guide you as you consider how you might invest in the lives of these precious children.
